We see a common precedent in Muslims that when they want to prove themselves right they say it with hand on Quran. Tell if it’s a right thing to do or not? Secondly is there any specific thing that if we lie with Quran in hand is it a big sin?

To my understanding any false oath, promise, testimony or statement on the name of Allah becomes a more serious crime with more severe punishment. As in Quran, when a husband accuses his wife for adultery, she can negate that accusation by invoking Allah’s wrath if she is lying. 24:6 to 24:9
