Can a person refuse a medical treatment, due to be painful?

For example: children refusing injection or elderly refusing operation.

    Is that comes under suicide?

As long as there’s treatment available, it’s our job to get the treatment.

Thanks but this video was about putting patient on life support after treatment.

My question is can we refuse treatment if it’s painful.

For example: I didn’t take injection because it had to be injected on hand’s vein.

Let me further elaborate my question, I am asking can a person chose between two extreme PAINS.

For example: refusing to have a cancerous leg cut, as its also can result in tremendous pain and even in death.

Is there anything in Islam that tells us to take extreme treatments for saving life.

As a principle, one should always opt for medical treatment whenever available. One should not in any circumstance try to avoid treatment in normal circumstances. However, just like with all other Islamic injunctions, there always exist a few grey areas, and a person has to do ijtihaad keeping in mind all the surrounding circumstances and making informed decision for themselves. A fixed ruling cannot be given for such grey areas.
