Salam, I watched lectures on dajjal and coming back of Hazrat Esa. I am wondering why other all Abrahamic relegions believe in Antichrist and what is the origin for this concept? When this concept was added to Jews and Christian’s religious beliefs. And why we discard that information about antichrist? Please present this to Ghamidi sahab to answer in this program or the other series (if possible). Thank you!

The present concept of Antichrist in Christianity was also developed much later based on a prediction in the Hebrew Bible. That prediction most probably referred to Palestinian ruler Antiochus IV.

Please see the following except from the Encyclopedia Britannica. If you read the entire article, you will notice parallels in how the concept of Dajjal was developed much later amongst Muslims.

The Christian conception of Antichrist was derived from Jewish traditions, particularly The Book of Daniel in the Hebrew Bible. Written about 167 BCE, it foretold the coming of a final persecutor who would “speak great words against the most High and wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws” (7:25). Scholars agree that the author of Daniel was alluding to the contemporary Hellenistic ruler of Palestine, Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who attempted to extirpate Judaism. But because Antiochus was not named, later readers could apply the prediction in Daniel to any persecutor. Early Christians applied it to the Roman emperors who persecuted the church, in particular Nero (reigned 54–68 CE).
