Quran 2:221- Who Is The Ruling Of Marrying Polytheists For?
Al-Baqarah – 2:221

وَلَا تَنكِحُواْ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكَٰتِ حَتَّىٰ يُؤۡمِنَّۚ وَلَأَمَةٌ مُّؤۡمِنَةٌ خَيۡرٌ مِّن مُّشۡرِكَةٍ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمْۗ وَلَا تُنكِحُواْ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ حَتَّىٰ يُؤۡمِنُوا۟ۚ وَلَعَبۡدٌ مُّؤۡمِنٌ خَيۡرٌ مِّن مُّشۡرِكٍ وَلَوۡ أَعۡجَبَكُمْۗ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَدۡعُونَ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِۖ وَٱللَّهُ يَدۡعُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلۡجَنَّةِ وَٱلۡمَغۡفِرَةِ بِإِذۡنِهِۦۖ وَيُبَيِّنُ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
Is this ruling specific to the polytheists of old- or does it apply today also? What is the evidence for either?
I know that marrying a polytheist wouldn’t be a smart decision but can it be termed haraam?
