  • How Could One Deny God After A Miracle?

Posted by A Hasan on December 15, 2020 at 4:16 pm

How is it reasonable to believe, that after being shown miracles such as not burning in fire, or seeing a snake turned to a staff, or seeing a baby speak in a cradle, that one could still deny God?

How could one still deny God? Isn’t it logical that they would submit?

Miracles are all around us but a lot of us still deny. Isn’t this infinite universe and everything that it contains a miracle within itself? It’s not logical, but that’s an inevitable side effect of having free will. Aren’t logic itself and the brain that comprehends it miracles too? But we find some of the most logical and intellectual minds of our time in impenetrable denial – that too without even a strand of an evidence.

But then you have a lot of external factors at play that propose alternate explanations and so one is standing on a very unreliable foundation. The definition of miracle could be different for people too. A miracle (an extraordinary one) could be experienced by you once or twice or maybe more times, and that could lead to believe in a God. But wouldn’t that relationship be very superficial? Submission would only come till I ‘know’ him hence the superiority of Knowledge over Miracles. That way, the whole purpose is shifted. That is why God insists upon not showing miracles while Quran was being revealed because making people believe in a God who can do extraordinary things is not the true purpose. It would only form a very shallow belief if not accompanied by prior knowledge. So I think miracles hold secondary importance, knowledge is the first one. Knowledge about the very ‘source’ from where the miracle is flowing.

Knowledge could tear apart and make its way through all the reasons that could come in the way of ‘still’ not believing or being able to believe in a God even after the manifestation of an extraordinary miracle.
