What Is Quran
Posted by Afia Khan on December 21, 2020 at 3:50 pm
and it is مخاطب to the people of the time of revelation.
Ok
Then respected Ghamdi Sahab said that this is a زندہ کتاب . And Allah is talking to us directly.
Can you please explain how to connect the dots?

Member December 21, 2020 at 4:06 pmI am not a scholar, but read Quran translation numerous times. What you were told is all true. It covers all those topics and more. Consider listening or reading the Quran translation and you will find the answer yourself. Following is one of the source. See here.

Member December 21, 2020 at 4:46 pmJAK for the advice. Alhamdulillah with the blessing of Allah I always do that. And with the blessings of Allah, being a student of Quranic Arabic and grammar, the experience of understanding the Quran without translation cannot be explained. In my opinion everyone should try to understand Quran without translation.

Member December 22, 2020 at 8:34 amThis is my opinion and perspective that In all cases mentioned in the original question still applicable to the fact that Quran is a living guide. Let’s take each point individually.
1. Is Quran talking to all humans directly? The answer is yes. There are many verses directly addressing humans and guiding them. The guidance is in the form of direct address to humans of all times and guidance is through stories of many prophets and other good or bad people. Just as when we conversate with other people, we give them direct instructions and we tell stories as an example to help other person understand a point better.
2. Is Quran a story of a prophet? I see that it has stories of many prophets and many other good and bad people. These stories cover approximately 2/3 of Quran. Each story is also intended to provide guidance in the form of an example from the past. The rest of Quran is direct guidance to humans or guidance through instructions to prophet Muhammad pbuh.
3. Is Quran a living books providing guidance to all humans to all ages of time? Yes certainly, if we keep our focus on the true meaning and soul of the message. The confusion arises when we get entangled in insignificant details and loose sight of the deep intended message. For example, Quran does provide direct guidance about whether to watch TV or not. There was no TV at that time and now there is. So does it mean Quran is not intended or doesn’t apply to all ages and it is not a living guide to humans? It is a living guide if you focus on the soul of the message and not start looking for a direct guidance about TV in Quran. Quran in this case gives us just a general principal that applies to all ages. So one of the guidance from Quran is to avoid being involved and participating in indecent acts or conversation. Following that principal, if we use TV for learning or to see good program, then it is allowed; otherwise not. So in this sense, Quran addressed the issue of TV as a living guide.
