  Lawyers defend criminals? So would it be haram for them to defend such people if they know they have done crimes?

  The Quran says

  Indeed, We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth so you may judge between the people by that which Allah has shown you. And do not be for the deceitful an advocate. (4:105)

  This is helping one in sins.

  Quran says:

  do not cooperate in sin and aggression. (5:2)
