Hadith About Sajda Being Added To Salah Later

What would the reason fo forging such a narration be? You can understand forging narrations which raise doubt to the preservation of the Quran or that attack the character of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم but what would a reason be to forge a hadith that sajda was added to salah later if everyone already knew how to pray and was well aware of the history?
