Quran 3:75 – Mention Of Deenar
As salaamu alekum,
In surah imran ayat 75, what is the meaning of dinar? Is it referring to the coin or currency? Was dinar in use during prophet muhammad time? Somebody told me dinar came to existence during Khalifa malik bin marwan time much later after prophet. How can quran refer to dinar when the coin was not in use in Arab during revelation of the ayat?

Gold coins (Dinar) were informally in use for a very long time. The official currency in the Caliphate was first issued much later.
