  Salaam

  I was hearing Dr Shabir Ally that the women rights given in Quran were a major advancement at that particular time but the world has moved on and given women far more rights then originally given in the Quran .

  So my question is that is it true that Women rights given by Islam were a major advancement at that particular time but God expected and wanted humankind to use His guidance and their intellect to socially evolve further by giving women more rights , etc which the West did but muslims did not and remained stuck intellectually in the 7th century.?
