From Quran, the messages about poets and poetry are not positive. Like sura alshauraa aayaat 224-226. And many places mentioned prophet is not poet and not presenting poetry.

Still we use poetry to express ourselves.

Is it ok to like poets and poetry? Because Allah did not mention poets as a good characters.

I wish the answer from Ghamidi saahb.

    Thanks.

Poets talks of imagination while Quran talks of facts and reality

Poetry itself is not bad but somehow it satisfies our aesthetic sense but for prophet of God it is not suitable to boast of the unrealistic things bcz in this situation for a common man it will be difficult to distinguish between imagery and reality

The poets who have been criticized in Quran were those who used to provoke people against prophet and his teachings knowingly

So if you use poetry for satisfaction of aesthetic sense or for great benefits of any good thing is good but if you use it for misleading from right path is bad

    Thank you from india

Every Prophet May peace be upon them were given the miracles by Allah ST having the extreme qualities of the things people of their nations were expert in. Like magic (Musa), medicine (Isa), etc. When our beloved Prophet MPBH came, poetry was at the peak in Arabs of that time. That is why Quran is called a miracle and Allah SWT challenged to them to bring a Surah, then few ayahs and then an ayah like this. Poets of that time tried to make something but they failed and even they admitted that they couldn’t make even one single ayah like Quran. In Surah Shu’arah Allah is mentioning those.

And if there is فحاشی in poetry, which is very common, then it comes under the rule of prohibition of فحاشی.
