A man has been given the right to dissolve the marriage, generally known as divorce. Khula is just a technical term used to categorize the kind of divorce in which the wife demands her husband to dissolve the marriage. Materially there’s no difference between the two and the exact same laws apply to both cases. The period of iddat has no bearing on whether the dissolution of marriage was initiated by the man or the woman.
