Here are a couple of articles about Reason of Sacredness for Rajab and other Months of Islamic Calendar.

It can’t be related to travel because you don’t travel to hajj in rajab.
I think it’s just chosen for some reason we don’t know then?

Also Rajab may also be related to a verb meaning “to remove”, so called because pre-Islamic Arabs would remove the heads of their spears and refrain from fighting.
God Bless.

Moderator May 20, 2021 at 6:30 pmSince Hajj is performed on a fixed date, any contingency happening in travelling would result in missing of the Hajj date. Therefore, more room was given for travelling purposes to avoid any contingency. However, Umra on the other hand can be performed anytime, therefore travelling can be planned accordingly considering any contingencies that may happen, and also delays would not result in missing of one’s Umra as opposed to Hajj.
