  • Is Umrah Or Ihram Compulsory To Visit The Alharam Mosque

Posted by Usman Arshad on June 4, 2021 at 9:49 pm

I am currently living in Rabigh, KSA which is just outside of Meeqat Al-Jouhfa near Mecca. I want to ask if I can visit the Mecca, Al-Haram mosque without intention of performing Umrah or Hajj? Which means without doing Ihram and just go for prayers and come back. People here told me that it is forbidden to visit Al-Haram mosque for people living outside Meeqat without doing Ihram and performing Umrah.

Please clarify? And also provide any reference from Quran or Hadith.

    JazakAllah.

Since umra is a nafal (optional) ibadah and there’s no such compulsion regarding when can it be performed, therefore, one can perform umrah any time and one can visit Masjid-e-Haram anytime without any precondition of umrah.
