Fitrah And Homosexuality
Posted by A Hasan on June 17, 2021 at 9:14 amWhy is the fitrah of homosexuals who never come into contact with religion messed up? Obviously they don’t think it’s fahisha if they get married and derive pleasure from the act

Fitrah or innate nature is not based on what we think. It’s how human beings function on a collective level – individuals or groups can’t be singled out. On a collective level, human beings are inclined towards sexual pleasure from the opposite gender – that’s fitrah or human nature. If certain people act against this fitrah, we should try to find out the reasons why and hopefully treat them if they can be treated.

Faisal Bhai, what if it can’t be treated? Debra Soh, a sexologist, contends that heterosexual people and homosexual people are born different. Men are feminized in the womb for example. This is due to antibodies created against antigen. Even the brains of homosexual people differ from those of heterosexual people. She writes:
“As for the research showing that gay brains are different from straight ones, we can start by looking at the formative work of Simon LeVay. LeVay was one of the very first sexual neuroscientists, whose research in the early 1990s showed differences in brain structure associated with being gay.
In a seminal study published in the journal Science, LeVay, who was a researcher at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, found that a tiny part of the hypothalamus (called the third interstitial nucleus of the anterior hypothalamus, thankfully abbreviated to “INAH-3”) was more than twice as large in straight men as in gay men; in gay men, it was closer in size to that of straight women.3 The hypothalamus is responsible for the four F’s: feeding, fighting, fleeing, and fornicating. (I like to keep things PG in case there are children reading.)
LeVay’s finding suggested that gay men’s brains were partially feminized, and also, that the foundation of sexual orientation is established by biology. The study blew up, igniting a media firestorm around the world.”

Contributor June 17, 2021 at 12:25 pmBut the question is why is their fitrah messed up. How is it a test to make one of the most basic needs of a human being messed up so that the human is inclined towards fahisha

Moderator June 17, 2021 at 12:40 pmThe question only arises due to lack of understanding of the term fitrah. Fitrah is collective human nature – this is how humans function under normal circumstances. There can of course be exceptions, handicaps, etc. and those should be dealt with accordingly. Just because a person loses his limb or is born handicapped doesn’t change the concept of human nature.

Contributor June 17, 2021 at 12:41 pmI’m not talking about fitrah as a collective. There is capital F Fitrah then every person obviously has his own way of functioning lower case f fitrah. This man’s natural inclinations- the way he functions (his personal fitrah) is homosexual. Whether societal or biological it doesn’t matter both are from God.
This seems like a massive test. How can he be expected to rear a family if he is not even attracted to women?

Moderator June 17, 2021 at 12:54 pmThere are many other types of massive tests as well – the concept of fitrah still remains intact. The life in this world is created on the principle of test, but that concept must be understood separately.
For deeper understanding of fitrah please refer to:
