    Peace!

Aaloosi in Rooh ul Ma’ani brings the following hadith regarding Surah al-Ahzab, verse 59, while Razi brings it regarding Surah al-Nur, verse 31. Any idea which Ayah is it actually about?

    Aloosi’s version:

    Razi’s version:

A similiar Hadith by Umm Salamah

    Narrated Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu’minin:

When the verse “That they should cast their outer garments over their persons” was revealed, the women of Ansar came out as if they had crows over their heads by wearing outer garments.

The difference in nature of both the verses and their context, and judging from the extreme reaction of women of that time, it seems more related to Surah Ahzab than Surah Nur.
