Making Up Worship Rituals
Posted by A Hasan on June 28, 2021 at 1:47 pmIs it haraam to worship God in any way you want and make your own rituals? If so then what is the evidence for this?

Al-Hadid – 57:27
Here the Quran talks about monasticism and it’s really not even a negative light in my opinion. It literally says that they got their payment for it and that it was good willed. Unless we’re going to say they didn’t know they were doing a bidah? But it seems they did because the Quran says they did it seeking the pleasure of Allah

However, if someone presents such a practice as a part of religion, then it is considered an innovation. As far as I know, learned sufis do not consider the whirling ritual as an act of worship ordained by God. It is considered a customary meditation practice said to have originated in the time of Rumi.

..The Sufi stuff can be understood and it’s not weird. But if the lease is given then videos such as the above (which have been circulating recently) would be classed as ok. Isn’t that a bit weird don’t you think? Would the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم allow this or the Sufi stuff?
