In this context God says, that every living thing which you see is created from water. Also, this is not a scientific statement to add knowledge but based on the knowledge of the audience which they already have, and the purpose is to make basis for the conclusion of oneness of God and resurrection that this meticulous creation should meet some meaningful culmination etc.

I am also of the opinion that it is a simple verse with simple and direct meaning exactly as stated and it is a statement of fact.

Do the disbelievers not realize that the heavens and earth were ˹once˺ one mass then We split them apart?1 And We created from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?
24:45
And Allah has created from water every living creature. Some of them crawl on their bellies, some walk on two legs, and some walk on four. Allah creates whatever He wills. Surely Allah is Most Capable of everything
Creation from water is mentioned in above 2 places. First place the ayah is addressing the disbelievers hence the rest of the ayah should be understood with reference to humans and not a general statement
Second place immediately gives reference to livings things on this earth so, again, it limits the interpretation to the living things in this world
Hope this helps clarify

The falling of rain, the growing of crops becuase of that rain and then water itself for drinking; infact our whole lives revolve around water and so were theirs. Just the way we know how much important water is for us to even be alive and for creatures around us, they knew the same. There are no scientific connotations here, a simple argumnt for every human being based on our daily observations.

I am not convinced with the opinion Ghamidi Sahib provides for these verses. The verses clearly talk about creation of living things with water.

This also creates and “awe” factor. The Quran is being recited by Muhammad SAW who never spoke any lies and then Quran itself amazed them by its superior linguistic and literary qualities so when they heard that everything is created from water that’s so central to their survival.
Since Quran is for all ages, it has to have some factors that would inspire this “awe” factor in coming generations. Earth and sky were one, creation from water, orbits of planets etc, Arabs couldn’t understand or verify any of that but they had to bow to Quran’s majesty. It mentioned things immediately relatable to them, desert, sky, camel, cows, different tribes among them, stars, horses etc and things that were not understandable but created amazement in their hearts.

However, these statements are made in such a way that any future knowledge does not nullifies them. This quality of Quran makes it a non-human expression and have the awe factor.
however, occasionally Quran adds up to the knowledge as well, as we find in the details of steps taken in the creation of Adam, creation of jinns from fire, creation of seven heavens and earth etc. This may have a awe factor for future generations too if they could know about them.
