Evolution And Soul
I am aware of the Ghamidi sahab’s take on evolution. He says that human beings first evolved for billions of years on this earth and among them Allah choose two and gave them personalities of Adam and Eve.
What are those personalities, is that what we call in urdu ROOH? If that’s the case then animals also have rooh don’t they,
We know that human evolution has been different from rest of the creatures due to cognitive brain development. What is the islamic explanation for it? Thank you

Brother Abdullah, animal don’t have or have very little self consciousness, very little ability to think and plan. They are mostly programmed to survive and replicate.
You can tell yourself how humans are different. Humans have very strong self awareness. It is not just rooh. All living things and perhaps all non-living things may have Rooh too as in Quran Allah conversates with mountains, etc.
Human have self-awareness and extra ordinary thinking ability.

Brother who has a stance on evolution, for or against, is mere conjecture or “best guess” scenario
Evolution seems plausible but still all theoretical. No fossil record has thus proved development of species or differentiation of species. Mutation of DNA, accepted as a reason of specie differentiation has not shown any success. In fact, computational analysis of DNA sequencing shows that chance of DNA mutation leading to a new protein formation is extremely unlikely.
Since it’s a theory, there can’t be an Islamic explanation but an opinion at best. Allah didn’t explain the steps of creation. What science of today or tomorrow proves as fact will automatically be “Islamic view point”. Because we believe Allah created us and it is upto us to discover HOW it was done.
Mathematical challenge to evolution

A slight correction on Ghamidi sahab’s explanation of evolution: the creatures that existed before Adam were not humans. Adam was the first being who became a human as a result of ‘nafkh-e-ruh’.

There were thousands of species and millions of animals before humans, inluding primitive humanoids. All these species were mutating and evolving contantly. Then isn’t it weired that only one species out of thousands became extremely intelligent and self aware. Doesn’t sound like natural evolution. Something extraordinary happened.
