  • Covering The Face A Custom Of The Women Of Arabia?

    Peace!

Why did they cover their faces? There is a Hadith in which the Prophet explicitly forbade Muhrim women to cover their faces:

In my opinion, these ahadith are about days of Hajj not culture.
@Irfan76 Can you share thoughts on it?

Women were never asked to cover their faces nor Arab women used to cover their faces as a tradition. However due to heat or occasionally they did on their own. This Hadith tells her own act, not as some religious act. She meant to say even during Hajj she covered her face for a while. Of course it is not forbidden to cover ones face even during Hajj.

Irfan Bhai, but what about the Hadith in Sunan al-Nisai in which the Prophet asked women in Ihram not to cover their face as mentioned in my question?
