Traditionally verse 15:87 is understood to refer to the first chapter of the Quran, Al-Fatiha. While Al-Fatiha has only 6 verses, but in the traditional understanding Bismillah in the beginning of the chapter is thought to be the first verse out of the 7 referred to in verse 15:87. This is the reason why generally in the copies of the Quran we find today, Bismillah before Al-Fatiha is numbered as the first verse, while the same before every other chapter is unnumbered.
Imam Farahi has understood the verse 15:87 to refer to 7 groups of chapters in the Quran. For details please see the thread below:
