If you’re knowledgeable about the atheist ideology as well as well grounded in religion, perhaps you can take the opportunity to start a discussion. If not, then there’s no response needed – you can still be good friends with the person.

Before we give Quran to someone we need to make sure they are ready for it. They need to be sincerely searching for answers and seeking information.
They need to realize based on the innate knowledge god gave them that the universe is created by someone.
If you ask an Atheist to prove how they concluded there is no god, you will find that it is just their opinion and they are only guessing. Or they may say some power created, the universe. That power is the god. So, they believe in god then.
