According a Hadith in Sahih Muslim 1101(int: 492) a man shouldn’t have his hair tied in a braid over his head or plaited hair or something like that while praying. I want to understand why is it specifically for men to avoid having a braid while praying?

These are not words ascribed to Prophet Muhammad (Sws), instead these are comments of Ibn-e-Abbas (rta) and are simple etiquettes ‘adaab‘ of Salah that every person should prostrate before God in the most decent clothes and in the most decent of the manners. What He (ibn-e-Abbas) thought was decent and appropriate, he recommended the same to the other person. Usually men do not have braids but women do have them, so ibn-e-Abbas (rta) made his suggestion.
