Why Awrah Is Men Different From Awrah Of Women?
Assalamu alaykum,
I have a question that’s bothering me. Can you please help me find an answer to this question?
why is awrah of man different from that of a woman? Woman is supposed to cover her entire body with the exception of hands and face and probably even feet. But a man is obligated to cover only from navel to knee. We know that many women are attracted to men’s chest and arms, yet men are allowed to keep these body parts open. Why? It doesn’t makes sense that an obvious attractive part of a man is allowed to be uncovered. Please explain, thanks. Jazakallahu khair.

Yes this is a question that has hounded me always . Moreover, why is the burden of moral responsibility always only placed on women. And why is it always assumed it’s only men who get pulled toward women! While in reality women too get attracted to men. If that wasn’t the case then the situation of consensual sex wouldn’t arise, would it? In my humble opinion men are not absolved from the responsibility dressing up decently , not in a sexualy attractive manner.
I have noticed that in muslim countries the society feels the only solution left to correct all moral evils is to shun their females into shadows. To deprive women from sharing public space with men. While these men know exactly how to keep their desires in check when in the western world because they understand that a case of sexual harassment against them will have ugly consequences.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that men are fully capable of keep their bad behaviours in check if they have fear of repercussions. They are not as helplessness as they want the women to believe. If only we start locking up such evil men instead of imprisoning and limiting the freedom of movement of the entire female population this wotld might become a better place.
