Quran 3:112 – Condition Of People Of The Book As Explained By Moududi Sahab
Assalam o Alaikum
ضُرِبَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلذِّلَّةُ أَیۡنَ مَا ثُقِفُوۤا۟ إِلَّا بِحَبۡلࣲ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَحَبۡلࣲ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَبَاۤءُو بِغَضَبࣲ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَضُرِبَتۡ عَلَیۡهِمُ ٱلۡمَسۡكَنَةُۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانُوا۟ یَكۡفُرُونَ بِـَٔایَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَیَقۡتُلُونَ ٱلۡأَنۢبِیَاۤءَ بِغَیۡرِ حَقࣲّۚ ذَ ٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوا۟ وَّكَانُوا۟ یَعۡتَدُونَ ﴿ ١١٢ ﴾
• ابوالاعلی مودودی:
یہ جہاں بھی پائے گئے ان پر ذلت کی مار ہی پڑی ، کہیں اللہ کے ذمّہ یا انسانوں کے ذمّہ میں پناہ مل گئی تو یہ اور بات ہے، یہ اللہ کے غضب میں گھر چکے ہیں، ان پر محتاجی و مغلوبی مسلط کر دی گئی ہے، اور یہ سب کچھ صرف اس وجہ سے ہوا ہے کہ یہ اللہ کی آیات سے کفر کرتے رہے اور انہوں نے پیغمبروں کو نا حق قتل کیا۔ یہ ان کی نا فرمانیوں اور زیادتیوں کا انجام ہے (112)

Moududi sahab’s Tafhim ul Quran has already further explained this note in note #90 of the same verse:
90: That is, “The little security that they enjoy anywhere in the world has not been won by themselves but has been the result of the help and kindness of others. They have been getting this either from some Muslim states in the name of Allah or from some non-Muslim states for other reasons.” And if sometimes they have succeeded in gaining even some political power, they have not accomplished this through their own efforts but have owed it to others.
Ghamidi sahab’s understanding of this verse in regards to the People of the Book can be understood by the following note in Al-Bayan:
This prediction materialized word for word and all the tribes of Arabia were humiliated to such an extent that no one came to their help and they were ousted from it in sheer disgrace.
As a side note, I highly suggest that if anyone is making an effort to read any tafsir that they should also along side consult Islahi sahab’s Taddabur-e-Quran. Taddabur itself is a great tafsir to be read, but even if only used for reference, it helps clarify a lot of issues for the learner.

Thank you. How do I get these two books? Plus the level of Urdu or explanation is often beyond a common man’s comprehension and I find it that the common man is in need to understand the deen better yet the ulema w due respect write it for some higher cerebral power. That’s why we could purchase but not really understand. If there’s a dummy version do suggest.

Personally I don’t find Ghamidi sahab’s or Islahi sahab’s writing any more difficult than Moududi sahab’s writing.
