Ascribing Attributes Of Allah To Humans

Moderator November 5, 2021 at 6:54 pmContrary to the being of God (khuda ki zaat), His attributes can be comprehended to some extent by a human being. The reason is that man himself finds some of these attributes within him, though at a very small scale. God has granted man some portion of His knowledge, power, providence, wisdom and mercy. Man can thus analogously have some idea of the attributes of God. But saying “Being as mercificul as Allah” would be transgressing our bounds, since we do not have any scale to measure the mercy of Allah, who is the most merciful.
The best way of saying it would be the way Prophet Muhammad (sws) described it:
“The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”
