My sister is unsure about the obligation of hijab, what neither of us can’t understand is that why is hijab always called fard by almost all people in islamic countries if it is not a Sunnah or mandated from the Quran? How is Javed Sahab concluding from fitrah that the hair is not necessary to be covered? Can you please tell me why early scholars unanimously ruled that for slave women covering of hair is not wajib?

cultural norms and certain applications of wearing Jalbaab by women were enunciated in religious terms, which give the impression that all this is from God. As far as Quran is concerned, one finds no such details.
Moreover, the cultural norms of the Prophet’s time were not transmitted as they were. Dr Mazhar Yasin Siddique, the renown scholar in Seerah, in his book, Rasool Akram awr Khawateen: Aik Samaji Mutala” has provided great details about the women in the time of the prophet taking part in all social and economic activities and interacting with men and there was no such restrictions on wearing Hijab the way, later scholars adopted elite class norms for Islamic injunctions on dress code.
