    Is Qurbani Equivalent To A Farz?

    I understand that Qurbani is Sunnah, however as Sunnah is based on Amli tawatur and consenses of the ummah, which gives it a stature of an independent source, can we say it’s equivalent to Farz?

    For example, is Qurbani farz then for those who can afford?

    I disagree with the premise, just because something is transmitted through Amli tawatur and ijma, it doesn’t necessarily make it a farz (sometimes it doesn’t even necessarily make it a deen). Aitkaaf, for example, is another ibadah which is transmitted through Amli tawatur and ijma, but is a Nafl (optional) ibadah and not a farz.
