Meaning Of Al-Kitab And Al-Hikmah
I have come across a few translations where I have found the words “Kitab” translated as Quran and “Hikmat” translated as Sunnah.
Ghamidi sb (in his tafsir, Al-Bayan) translates the two of these as “Qanoon” and “Hikmat”, respectively.
Could someone shed some light on this as to why there is a difference of opinion, as well as the arguments presented by both the sides.

As Ghamidi Sahab rightly pointed out and if you look at both classical and contemporary exegeses of Quran, you’ll see that Kitaab and Hikmat have been taken in the meaning of Quran and Hadith. Attached are the relevant snapshots of Ibn-e-kathir and Mufti Taqi Usmani’s Quran Exegeses for verse 2:151

However, Dr. Israr Sahab on the other hand held somewhat similar view as to Ghamidi Sahab. Please refer to the video below from 53 minutes onward.
