    I read this somewhere

“ As for alcohol, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu alayhi wa Sallam) said: “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day shall not sit at a table on which wine is served.” (Narrated by Imams Ahmad and Bayhaqi) This means that it is Haraam to be in an eating place where wine is served. “

    How true is this?

Following is the Hadith you’re referring to:

    https://sunnah.com/tirmidhi:2801

The actual prohibition is that of drinking alcohol. Instructions of Prophet (sws) like these are Sadd-e-Zariya directives for Muslims to stay away from Haram thing as far away as possible. But this is not the actual prohibition. Secondly, these instructions of Prophet Muhammad (Sws) relate to an era when alcohol was completely outlawed and its consumption eradicated at a state level, in such an instance, even participating in alcohol production and sitting on a table with other people drinking it, become sinful acts.
