Hair Of The Mothers Of The Believers And Surah Al-Ahzab

I found the following narration in an article, which says it is from Sahih Muslim, but I couldn’t find it there:
Abu Salamah b. Abd al-Rahman narrates: “The wives of the Prophet used to cut their hair until it came just below their ears.”
Is this found in Sahih Muslim? If so, is this narration from before the verses in Surah Al-Ahzab related to the mothers of the believers were revealed? How does this narration relate to the those verses?

What you read is not the complete passage, this narration is in the context of Ghusal (ceremonial bath) and there are two different kind of translations I’ve encountered. Please see:
