  • Do I Need To Repeat My Prayer?

I woke this morning feeling a bit gassy. I’ve recently been having a lot of doubts in my prayers, so I usually wake up a bit anxious with an upset stomach around Fajr time. When I was doing Sajda Sahw for a second time (after the salams) – because I felt doubtful about my Sajda Sahw – I very briefly smelt something. I didn’t notice passing any gas, but the upset stomach + brief smell created a doubt in my mind. The smell was also very brief, I tried to sniff again to check and couldn’t smell anything.

Based on the Hadith about leaving prayer, should I have left prayer? In it, the man also feels something in his stomach and is told only to leave when he smells or hears something. In my case, I didn’t feel myself passing any gas, but my stomach was upset + I think I briefly smelt something. Should I repeat this prayer? It’s after Fajr time now.

I debated this for a while in the last minutes before sunrise, but ultimately decided against it because I know I am a chronic doubter. Now I’m doubting my decision (ironically).

As you rightly concluded and i replied on your other post, these doubts of yours are not real. you need to ignore them. Don’t let them overcome you.

And Dr. Irfan Shahzad, if someone has constant doubts over whether they performed essential parts of the prayer (like surah after surah faatiha in the second rakat), should they also ignore them?
