Organ Transplant- Use Of Pig Heart
I have just listened to Javed Ghamidi comment on the use of pig heart. I beg to differ from his opinion. We know that that for over 80years, we have been using pig pancreas to produce insulin, which has saved millions of diabetic Muslims life.. this is a life saving drug. Muslims have used them without any qualms. Pigs are used because there Genes are more akin to human beings. Use of pig heart is due to extreme shortages of donor hearts. People are dying due to these shortages. The sad thing is that 1.5 billon Muslim don’t put there name as a donor of heart, but happy to receive the heart. Pig heart is genetically modified so that it is not rejected by human beings. The most important thing is that it is life saving procedure, how many Muslims would like refuse this offer, I wonder ?
