This Hadith seems to be disrespectful to the Prophet (pbuh) who seems to have no privacy even when he’s answering the call of nature. Should we just dismiss these narrations on the basis of their content ?

It is unintentional happening. Ibn umar still quoted it to enlighten the people that to face kaaba or bait ul Madadis while relieving is not forbidden.

We need to keep in mind the cultural and traditional aspects of that society in that particular era as well as scientific advancements of that era. It would be a wrong approach to study such events in the light of today’s cultural norms and scientific advancements. The privacy that we have today while relieving ourselves was not possible at that time. Therefore, people of that time (Muslims) used to follow everything in their power to observe proper privacy e.g. Muslim women used to go out to relieve themselves in the dark, and Muslims were strictly forbidden by the Prophet (sws) to leave old norms of talking while relieving themselves etc. But all of this had to be done with inherent limitations imposed by norms, culture and scientific advancements of that time.

Here in this narration, we can see that it was Ibn-e-Umar (rta) who went to the rooftop and saw a glimpse of what he explained and this too had to do with the limitations of that Era where complete privacy under all conditions was not possible.
