    Asalamualaikum,

I want to clarify that if an employee gets his/her salary without doing the work they are supposed to do, is it halal for them to take that salary. E.g., government teachers here in our state rarely go to their schools and if they go, they rarely teach as most students join private school because teachers ignore students mostly at government schools as there is no backlash if they don’t teach. So is their salary halal if they get it by just sitting at home or not teaching.

This is the case with most teacher employees here in our state, so an answer is much needed. Also if it’s not halal then what can they do to make it halal earning.

Its definitely haram under broad category of haq talfi as mentioned in verse 7:33. For more details of principle of determining halal o haram you can refer to this thread Discussion 1749
To make it Halal they need to perform their duties as per their contract.
