  • Hadith “Our Bodies Have Rights Upon Us"

The Prophet (SAW) said, “Our bodies have rights upon us, our eyes have

rights upon us, so give everyone his due right”

What is the meaning of it. Should I consider that it is about staying away from committing sins or it is about physical health?

Yes it is about physical health, among other things. This Hadith is referring to the fact that we shouldn’t indulge too deeply in worldy or religious activities that it starts affecting our physical health or our familial relations. Therefore, what religion requires is a balanced approach in life without any extreme on one particular end.

Thank you sir, does Allah says that this body is a gift which given by him?

It is indeed a gift and every human being knows it. Quran doesn’t mention the obvious facts of material world, for that, human intellect is enough and Allah relies on our intellect to make the right decision in this regard (which experience and history suggests that most of us do). Quran talks about matters of our success in the hereafter, for which, our intellect has no basis to reach a precise conclusion in this regard unless guided by God Hismelf.
