  • Playing Chess In The Context Of Gambling And Rationale Behind It

    I know there isn’t any wrong according moral values with playing chess.

    But I read in a book of a prominent scholar that in chess we’ve to trick the opposition to win and that’s why it’s haram.

    I came here to know if there’s any hidden perspective about chess which I am missing that makes it haram ?

    And if it’s halal, can someone participate in tournaments where there’s a prize money for chess winners or will it come in gambling?

    Like the defination of gambling is gaining someone else’s money by immoral means.

    How will we define immoral means ?

    There’s no problem in playing chess or participating in tournaments. Of course, it goes without saying that one has to be mindful of keeping a balance in life as with everything else.
