    Assalamualaikum

One thing is religion in which there is an obligatory part and an optional part. But another thing is when a person tries to copy Prophet SAW to express his love for him e.g Prophet SAW stand, sat, ate, slept in certain ways, now imitating because of love is not obligatory. But sometimes for example a person usually eats in the way Prophet SAW used to eat but at one time he liked to eat in another way ,now the doubt(or maybe waswasa from shaytan) comes in mind, that don’t you love Prophet SAW but now are liking to do this in another way than Prophet SAW and this question arises in unobligatory part of religion also,so what should a person do?(because sometimes it causes stress)

Religion should be understood according to the principles of religion and Prophet SAW’s guidance in that regard should be followed in letter and spirit.

If imitating Prophet SAW in his worldly deeds is important to someone because of their love for the Prophet, that’s certainly a commendable thing. However, understanding and consciously being aware of the fact that doing so is not a religious duty, nevertheless, is imperative. Once that is properly understood then one should simply follow their conscience without judging those who might act in a different manner. There’s no reason to fight one’s own conscience and necessarily do something differently.
