The Question I have is the Islamic view on Figure study / drawing .

Figure study/ drawing or Studying anatomy is very Important for those wanted to be a professional Artist.

The purpose of this study is to help the artist to understand proportions. The main reason is to train the eyes of an artist . It also helps an artist to understand the human body’s exact structure, texture, postures, curves ..etc. there are many things which can be learned from this study.

When an artist draw an animal..It is a must for him/her to know the exact anatomy of that particular animal . Similarly for human beings and other objects as well. It’s important to draw naked human figures as a basic before putting clothes on it. Same with sculpting as well. A sculpture always make a naked human body first before putting clothes on it.

The issue is while doing this study an artist need to draw models which can be clothed or naked. Naked figure study is even more preferable in the field of art due to the reasons I’ve stated above.

Figure study of live naked models can be prohibited but Can figure study be done by an artist with the help of a guide book which contains nude drawings ?

I honestly feel there is no wrong in it cause this study is being done for a specific purpose .
