Infinity Problem In 'Who Created God'
Posted by Abdullah AbdulRahman on March 9, 2022 at 3:10 pmAssalamualaikum
One argument which is given that if God is created by x and that x is by y and y by z and so on, that goes to infinity and then there is not beginning. But there are things which are finite but their values go to infinity e.g 1/3, it’s finite but 0.3333333333…… goes to infinity and never stops but still it’s finite. So if we apply this to the above argument then there is a beginning with infinity also?

Infinity Problem In 'Who Created God'

How you know that God is created? This argument can only be entertained when we prove that God Himself was created.
If you accept God is created then how you can say that one is God.
Quran tells us that God is eternal and beyond creation so this argument doesn’t make sense.

Member March 10, 2022 at 8:04 amOk,we don’t call it God in the definition of Quran, but intellectually, there is God Who has created everything. Then who created God. If one says that, if we accepted that someone has created God then who created the creator of God and this chain goes on(infinite)……. and never ends , so there is no beginning. For there should be a beginning, then logically there should be One Who has created everything and Himself is uncreated. But (if i am using the right words) infinite can also be finite like between 1 and 2( which are finite numbers), between them is infinity like 1.11111……,1.211111… and so on.
This question arose from this debate:
32:00 to. 59:33
In which Kraus tried to refute Hamza.

When we question the existence of God it’s because we know that things surrounding us are created.
For understanding your argument, I need to watch the video first which may require some time.
However, I read the explanantion by William Craig in this regard where he says there is difference between acual infinite and potential infinite. You may check his website:

The concept of God in the Quran is contrary to the philosophical definition of God. That’s why we cannot keep the Quran out. See Ghamidi sahab’s comment on such theories in following video from 1:05:13 to 1:08:01

Member March 10, 2022 at 3:47 pmFor “that God itself is creation”, if i am understanding right then word or entity God in Himself means uncreated, and if He is created by someone then He is not God longer. Is that right?

Moderator March 14, 2022 at 5:36 amWe recognize God due to His attributes. Hence, when we say God it means a being which has no beginning or an end.

Member March 15, 2022 at 5:52 pmThis is problem of human language. Language is nothing but emotions, actions in a spoken way. When we say something exist. We r bound to say “created” cuz that’s what we have experienced.
Similarly when we say God created everything it leads to the question Who created God? This is because we can not know/understand any existence that’s not created (by god or evolution, whatever ur stance)
When we say God is eternal, we r, again, speaking with relevance to humans. We can not understand what does eternal mean to an entity that’s not created.
Eternity, infinity r human concepts and God is above human conceptions. That’s why He only mentioned his attributes relevant to human attributes and didn’t say anything about His personality.
The question, who created God, says lot more about human inability to understand or comprehend what’s beyond this material universe
