    As Allah says in Quran,

    (nor repulse the beggar) 93:10

    Who can be called a beggar?

    And In current times, when begging has become a profession, how do we know who to give and who not?

    As fas 93:10 is concerned, it is no talking about about beggars originally, instead it is talking about people asking questions to the Prophet (sws) to clear their doubts about Islam. But by extension, it also encompasses people asking for other worldly needs like food and clothing etc. Ghamidi Sahab writes in Al-Bayan:

    ترتیب بیان کے لحاظ سے یہ جملہ ’وَوَجَدَکَ ضَآلاًّ‘ سے متعلق ہے۔ لہٰذا پوچھنے والے سے مراد یہاں اصلاً وہ شخص ہے جو اپنی کسی ذہنی یا عقلی الجھن کو دور کرنے کے لیے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے۔ اپنے پیٹ یا تن کی ضرورت کے لیے سوال کرنے والے بھی اِسی کے تحت ہیں اور یقیناً مستحق ہیں کہ اُن کے ساتھ بھی اچھا سلوک کیا جائے اور خدمت کا موقع نہ ہو تو اُنھیں جھڑکا اور ڈانٹا نہ جائے، بلکہ خوب صورتی کے ساتھ معذرت پیش کر دی جائے
