Quran 6:116 – Majority Will Lead You Astray Goes Against Democracy
Asalam o Alakum Ghamidi sahib
I have heard your talks on Islam and democracy . I agree democracy seems to be the most logical and practical political system in any society. People against democracy however use this argument that Quran mentions that majority of the people in this world will be wrong. Then how can we establish a political system based on the opinion of majority of the people?

The verse you refer is about the people who were wrong or Fasiq against the prophet:
“If you follow the majority of people on the earth, they will lead you astray from the path of God, for they follow only conjecture and surmise.” (6:116)
This is in comparison to the path of God that is Religion in the time of the prophet when majority was against him. As far as the worldly matters are concerned, the best way is suggested is Mutual consultation.
” (Believers are the ones) whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation (42:38)
