Kindly provide your guidance to understand below hadith. In one of his lecture Ustad Mohtaram Ghamidi Sahab has said that Prophet S.A.W tried every step to eradicate slavery from its root and it was abolished to make and keep any slave after battles were won, but below hadith seems in contrast to this spirit.

It is narrated on the authority of Jarir that he heard (the Holy Prophet) saying, The slave who fled from his master committed an act of infidelity as long as he would not return to him. Mansur observed:

By God, this hadith was narrated from the Apostle (may peace and blessings be upon him), but I do not like that this should be narrated on my authority here in Basra.

This Hadith is from Sahih Muslim.

It’s true that Islam closed all doors to make new slaves and encouraged people to free the slaves that they already owned. However, Islam never promotes anything haphazard or immoral. A slave running away from his master is precisely such an attitude that Islam would never tolerate. If a slave wanted freedom, there was a proper method prescribed for it.
