    Assalamualaikum Team,

In Islam as Muta marriage is invalid and is considered an adultery. Kindly help me understand Sahih Bukhari hadith 4615 wherein it seems temporary marriage was allowed by prophet.

Narrated `Abdullah: We used to participate in the holy wars carried on by the Prophet and we had no women (wives) with us. So we said (to the Prophet ). Shall we castrate ourselves? But the Prophet forbade us to do that and thenceforth he allowed us to marry a woman (temporarily) by giving her even a garment, and then he recited: O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you.

As a principle Hadith donot add anything to religion as they donot include any context and are reporting of isolated event. However, There is another hadith which has prohibited the muta in sahih bukhari https://sunnah.com/bukhari:4216 . Although, according to Farahi school it was never allowed in first place. Jazakallah Sir,bht bht shukriya.

there is a hadith in sahih bukhari 4518 which is about Hajj- at- tamattu but in Arabic text Hajj is not mentioned ,when one read Arabic text it sound as Muta , some people using this are trying to mislead saying the hadith is about Muta and as per hadith prophet never prohibited it.

@codename.AJK @UmerQureshi , Why didn’t the Prophet (sav) criminalize this practice before Hz. Omar Faruq (rta), if it was practiced during his times? Because, this is the serious threat for society, and is totally similar to prostitution.

    Kindly clarify

Its difficult to assess the conditions during Prophet Mohammad saw and Hazrat Umer RA time.
Perhaps, Hazrat Umer RA criminalised it due to the pertaining conditions.
Similar steps were taken in Hazrat Ali RA time to criminalize alcohol by 80 lashes, as mentioned in the thread posted by Umer sb.

I highly recommend to read the thread posted by Umer sb.
