    Assalamualaikum

It is said that the real designation of Prophets is to warn and give good news to the people, they don’t struggle for being leader etc. But Yusuf AS asked for designation himself:

    Al-Quran

    Surah No. 12 – Ayah No. 55

    Translation:

Joseph said: ‘Place me in charge of the treasures of the land. I am a good keeper and know my task well.’

    This raises two questions :

First as said, being a Prophet they can struggle for another big designation as life of Prophet SAW is interpreted to struggle to establish a state

And second that they being a Prophet can also struggle for earning money?

If a person finds in him a quality to serve people one way or other there is no harm if he presents himself for a public office, even if he is a prophet and his actual designation of being a prophet is not affected. But it is not recommended for prophets or ulema as a class or category to go for public offices or politics. This is not their job. But if an Alim finds in himself the quality of leadership he can go ahead the way others do.

But how could Yusuf AS could do inzaar and basharat with that designation? And secondly does it prove that even after being a Rasool or Nabi can he struggle economically?

To be in the state of power, empowers one to work for one’s agenda.

Usually, arrangements are made for prophets to fulfil their financial needs. The portion in the spoils of war, the Maal e fay (the wealth or lands gained from enemy without fight) is prescribed for them.

It is mentioned in the Quran that Yusuf AS did his prophetic mission. A Believing man from the Egyptians at the time of the advent of Moses addressed his nation and said:

Before this, Joseph had also come to you with very clear signs. Then the things he had brought to you, you continued to be in doubt about them until when he died (40:340)
