My bhabi who lives in USA is widowed couple of days ago. She is around 55 years old. Can she travel to Pakistan or she has to compete her idat of 04 months plus in USA.

If a widow is observing Iddah then she is directed to spent her Iddah in her deceased husband’s home. During that time, she can travel to any place of necessity but her primary abode should be her deceased husband’s house.

Since the basic purpose of iddah is to determine whether a lady is pregnant or not. This is necessary to protect the lineage of the child. Hence in all cases where one is absolutely sure that the divorcee/widow is not pregnant there shall be no iddah. Obviously in such a case there shall be no other restrictions of the iddah as well.
