For example: Someone compiles an E-book on ‘Namaz: A brief introduction’ or ‘Fasting in Islam’ etc.
Is it permissible to make a living doing this provided that all the information compiled and shared is honest and true?

Islam objects when there is something unethical involved in an activity. There is nothing objectionable in it. You spent time in developing material and you deserve to have monetary compensation for that. People print Quran and sell it to make profit. A scholar served to teach Islamic studies and gets his or her salary.
