  • Hadith To Not Sell Foodgrain Until One Has Taken Possession Of It

    Assalamoalaikum brothers,

I have a question regarding the Fatwas of various Ulema on various business deals considered Haram on the basis of below Sahih Muslim Hadith 3845 “Ibn ‘Umar (Allah be pleased with them) reported Allah’s Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying,: He who bought foodgrain should not sell it until he had taken possession of it.”

Is there anywhere Javaid Sahab explained the core problem mentioned in this Hadith, the context of this Hadith and how does it link with Surah Araf Ayat below.

Please share detailed response if possible.

    JazakAllah for helping!

JazakAllah brother for sharing the details and how the issue links in Quran verse.

I wanted to clarify further, the Hadith in question specially the word “possession”.

Now a days, we have various businesses in which dealers sells items from central warehouses without taking possession. They just sell goods and take commission whereas central warehouse does the rest. For example Amazon, Wish etc. even the brokers of loan schemes and mortgage etc.

Therefore my further clarifying questions are

Is this Hadith directing towards the evils you mentioned in the previous reply or Is the core problem mentioned in this Hadith is “possession”?

      JazakAllah
