Sahih Bukhari 5096 – Women Are Fitna
Posted by Hammad Arshad on June 28, 2022 at 2:28 amAs per hadith in sahih bukhari 5096 we get to know that Prophet (pbuh) declared women fitna for men.
My Q is doesn’t this degrade women? Looking forward to hear from anyone regarding this. Thanks

https://youtu.be/-ZFu-nze1lgThe hadith mentioned in this video is following
Musnad Ahmad no. 25557
Abū Hassān reports that two people came to ’A’ishah and said to her that Abū Hurayrah narrates that the Prophet used to say that bad luck is to be found only in women, horses and houses. At this, ‘A’ishah became very angry and said: “By the God who revealed the Qur’ān to the Prophet, the Prophet never said this; what he did say was that the People of the jāhilliyyah say that bad luck is found in a woman and in a house and in an animal.”

Also, the word fitna has multiple meaning in arabic. It can mean trial, bad omen, temptation, sedition or affliction. In case of that hadith, some people has translated as trial and some as temptation.
The wrong understanding is arising due to urdu word fitna i think.

“Beautified for people is the love of that which they desire – of women and sons, heaped-up sums of gold and silver, fine branded horses, and cattle and tilled land. That is the enjoyment of worldly life, but Allāh has with Him the best return [i.e., Paradise].”
This world with everything in it is a fitnah as you may end up in hell if you are not careful but it’s also a cultivation field for the hereafter. You will reap in the hereafter what you sow in this world

Moderator June 28, 2022 at 6:28 pmFitna in this Hadith means trial just the way Quran (3:14) and (64:15) has mentioned love for women, children and wealth etc. as having a potential to deviate humans from the right path. In essence, Hadith is also pointing to this fact with more emphasis on women.
