Quran 24:31: Use Of Word "Don't Display" Instead Of Word "Hide"
السلام عليكم
Why did God use the words لا يُبدين instead of a word like “يغطين” or “يسترن” or “يخبئن”? Doesn’t it imply that ornaments were already covered?

It works both ways. if they are already covered, do not uncover them, and if they are not covered, they should not stay uncovered before na Mehram.
